Flight & Hotel
July 24th, 2010I ended up sitting next to a couple from the Reformed Christian Church. We talked all the way here, which was good because we sat on the tarmac a LONG time because of the thunderstorms in Atlanta.
My hotel room is scrupulously clean and quite nice, but when I went to pull the curtains shut I saw that there was a cockroach as big as my thumb sitting on the curtains. I haven´t seen one that big since I was in the Baltimore Aquarium and saw a hissing Madagascar cockroach. And it reminded me of Mexico.
Once in Mexico I was talking to Dina, the night I turned on the light to discover a scorpion on the ceiling above my bed. I wailed about what I should do and Dina started quoting from Psalms….´me acostaré y descansaré en paz´…I will lie down and sleep in peace. I was looking for that verse this morning, but I only brought a Spanish Bible so it is harder to find. I´ll have to google it when I finish this.
Anyway, that was a good verse to have in mind last night.
This time zone is 2 hours earlier so i woke up early. Some of the birds sound relatively normal, but I heard lots of intriguing parrot-like squawks.
Forgot to mention- major difference between US & Costa Rican hotels…no Gideon Bible in the nightstand drawer.
