Eat slugs!
May 25th, 2010I’m not sure if this is too gross to share or too silly to keep.
The last time we had a serious problem with sand in our lettuce I purchased a salad spinner, which seemed to work well.
Our home-grown lettuce of course requires heavy-duty rinsing. I ran water over it for what I thought was plenty of time and then used the spinner. Unfortunately, thoroughly cleaning lettuce, much like learning a second language, seems to work best with full immersion.
We each found a live baby slug in our salad, which brings up the question of how many there were in the first place.
Learn from my mistakes, people.
I’m not so sure I want to have lunch at your house after all!
Also quite amused at your categorization of this post…
Did I offer lunch? Well, I sure am now. Fresh garden salad….it’s all yours if you can keep it down.
I am truly torn as to whether I should be grossed out or amused. Like kittens, I guess baby slugs are cuter than adults…maybe that’s why.
Thanks for noticing the categorization…it entertained me, too!
