Laundry Detergent Rant
December 30th, 2008It appears that Target only sells large containers of liquid laundry detergent in concentrated form. This means that when one tries to pour it into the cap one almost always pours in too much. To alleviate this problem the containers are now made with a spout at one end with a rubber activation button. I feel that it requires too much time and effort to turn the container on it’s side and hold down the button until the desired amount has been released.
There is another problem. The more viscous liquid does not drain quickly out of the measuring cup. I have tried rinsing it two or three times as the washing machine fills. Then, when I put the cup back on the container as a cap, the stuff slowly runs down the sides of the container and oozes onto the floor. It’s a pain to clean up.
One potential solution is to grab some item of clothing and quickly wipe out the cup. This solves the floor problem but not the pouring problem. I have thought about diluting it myself, though I am not excited about it.
Time to switch back to powdered detergent? Grrrr.
Why not just throw the cup in with your load?
That does seem to help a lot.
Thanks, Target Rep!
time to switch to Seventh Generation or some other more environmentally friendly soap! why do you need such a big container anyway?
