Cooking Disaster # 3.14159265
November 2nd, 2008Task: Transfer just-made pizza dough to hot pizza stone for immediate baking
Previous tries: never attempted
Little-known fact: pizza dough is about as tough to handle as pie crust
Results (short version): Domestic tragedy
Results (longer version):
1) pepperoni on floor between counter and refrigerator
2) pizza landscape resembling aftermath of major earthquake, with sauce boiling along major fault-lines
3) permanently stained pizza stone
4) tears
5) cereal for dinner
Stained baking stones work better! It helps cure them or something. The darker the better.
I appreciate the tears though.
Having a cold meal after anticipating a hot one is no fun either.
Stained red with tomato sauce, for the most part?
You should see it. That was the first time I had ever used it and it looks DREADFUL.
And there’s just nothing like that sick feeling of knowing dinner is totally wrecked.
