Too Tired to Eat Right

October 14th, 2007

I think I’ve gained a pound since school started. It is a big adjustment moving from weeks of meandering unstructured time to being energetically on the move most of the day. I have gradually run less and less and no doubt eaten more. I feel too tired to want to consider self-control, and I indulge more freely and frequently.

I’m certain this is a normal reaction and I can see how it applies to busy families in our area as well. It takes planning to arrange healthy meals, and if the planning doesn’t happen, well, we can do take-out.

In this case I seem to be adjusting naturally. I assume it isn’t just a coincidence that I went running Saturday after skipping the last two Saturdays, that I am determined to run on Monday and Wednesday as well, and that I’m writing on this tonight.

Whatever the case, it is still important to note that changes in schedule are not a valid excuse for gluttony.
