Petty Gluttony

January 11th, 2007

Hello, my name is Shannon and I eat too much!

I am defining “petty gluttony” as overeating which may lead to a weight gain of up to 25 pounds over the ideal weight (whatever that may be). A petty glutton is one who regularly engages in petty gluttony.

It is hard for me to admit to being a glutton, so my new term is intended to soften the blow.

But a petty thief is still a thief, and a petty glutton is still a glutton.

I do believe gluttony is a sin, which would make this an example of habitual sin in my life, something I have given into on a regular basis for years.

I know there are books written from a Christian perspective on this topic, but I think it might be more beneficial for me to start from scratch and work up to my own conclusions. Eventually I would like to spend some time gathering evidence for my strong statements on gluttony. Should I make any progress I will post my findings here.

  1. Now that that’s done it’s off to find a snack…

(Do I have to take this seriously all the time?)

  2. I just did a search for “petty gluttony” on Google. Can’t believe I wasn’t the first to come up with this!

  3. why is gluttony a sin again?
    remind me of verses, please?

(i’m not saying it’s not or anything–i was just trying to remember why…besides our body is a temple)
