Priorities
June 21st, 2005I like making lists of things to do. Sometimes I make a list for a day and estimate how much time each item will take. Invariably I discover that I don’t have enough time to complete the list and am forced to prioritize.
It takes a lot of self control to prioritize. I am just getting to the point where I can better prioritize by deadline. I have some things I need to do that are interesting and I want to do them, but this morning was my last good chance to finish my Spanish homework for tonight’s class. So this morning I finally finished the 31 pages of grammar and writing, the worksheet, and the composition. That was an easy example because there was a deadline looming up this evening but even then I still found myself weeding the garden this morning. I notice that I am easily distracted.
This week I am inundated with unstructured time, which makes planning and prioritizing much more difficult. However, I know that CJ will probably arrive home either Thursday or Friday. Therefore it is very important to make sure the house is clean before he arrives. I took care of that yesterday, which was a major act of self control, since I find floor-cleaning to be a rather dull job.
But I am so happy to be swept, mopped, and vacuumed!
House, what can you POSSibly have to complain about with two very clean, bookish owners and no pet hair?
I just need to know I’m loved….acts of service is my love language.
Too bad it isn’t gifts. I ordered two night stands for you today.
Beggars can’t be choosers…night stands! How delightful! I trust they match the dresser? I don’t know how much longer I can stand those cheap k-mart ones you’ve been using.
Yeah, well, that was back when I was begging and couldn’t be choosing. Just hang on for 4-6 more weeks…I was going to say “settle down” but you do quite enough of that as it is!
Um, are you sure there’s no way for you to contact CJ? I think you’ve been alone quite long enough.
Huh? What do you mean “alone”?
Ahem. Is something happening to me? Is something wrong with me? I hear whispers but I cannot quite make out the words. Is it true? Shannon? Is it true? What do I do now?
Listen, Buddy. I am much too good for K-Mart trash like you. Out with the old (and cheap!) and in with the new. It is about time these cheapskates purchased some real furniture for me.
I suppose next you’ll be wanting a real dining room table?
